We believe the least-privacy-invasive site is the best site. This policy describes what we collect, why, and what we don't.
The short version
- We do not sell your data. We don't have a data to sell.
- We do not run ad networks. No third-party ad cookies, no retargeting pixels.
- We do not require an account. You can read the entire site as a ghost.
- We do use Amazon affiliate links, which means Amazon sets cookies when you click through. See the disclaimer for details.
What we collect
Server logs
Our web server records standard access logs: IP address, timestamp, the page you requested, your browser's user agent, and the page you came from (the "referrer"). These logs are retained for 30 days for security monitoring and then deleted.
Interactive tools
Our interactive tools — Oil Finder Quiz, Dilution Calculator, Blend Builder, Diffuser Matcher, Scent Profile Finder, Shelf Life Tracker — run entirely in your browser. Your answers never reach our server.
The Shelf Life Tracker uses your browser's localStorage to save your oil collection so it survives a refresh. This data never leaves your device. To erase it, clear your browser's site data for this domain.
If you email us at contactscienceaplus@gmail.com, that email lives in Gmail. We only keep correspondence as long as needed to serve your request, then delete it.
Newsletter (when launched)
We don't yet run a newsletter. When we do, subscribing will be explicit double-opt-in, we will never sell the list, and the unsubscribe link will work in one click.
What we don't collect
- We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, or any similar behavioral-analytics tool.
- We don't fingerprint your browser.
- We don't run advertising.
- We don't have a comments system — so we don't collect comment authors.
Cookies
This site sets no first-party tracking cookies. When you click an Amazon affiliate link, Amazon's cookies are set by Amazon, governed by Amazon's privacy policy — not ours.

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top changes. Material changes will be noted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
